Game Publishers... Hmmm... wow... looks like this week's topic is rather a hard one to think about. But nevertheless, without them (game publishers), we won't have any games to spend our extra time (or rather, release our stored stress from work or from study). However, there exist a few very good game publishers as well as those that are not so... up to expectations (I refuse to use the word 'bad'... since every game on the shelves is the blood, sweat and tears of all these creative people).

Most of us just play games day in and day out without sparing a single thought on the game publishers... as well as the people working behind the scenes to brings us great games. With the acknowledgements these game publishers received from awards like the VGA 2009... it just gives them an extra boost to produce more greater and better games to meet the ever increasing demands of gamers from all corners of the world... hey... after all, games unites people from all over the world... ^^ GAMERS UNITE!!

Old Ideas, New Concept & Awesome Graphics

With game publishers coming up with new ideas every now and then to satisfy the ever skyrocketing demands of players from around the world, new titles such as 'Uncharted 2' is getting every gamers excited as it reminds everyone of the good old times from the Indiana Jones movies... well... same concept... I think. But with this idea (Indiana Jones in the background), game publishers created a new character that everybody knows... a new icon for the current generation and also exposes gamers (that are so stuck at home) to places they've never been before.

Besides that, games like MotorStorm takes gamers to a totally different discipline of racing... which is mayhem and destruction (reminds one of Destruction Derby for the console of yesteryears)... too much boost and your car explodes into pieces from the engine overheating. Ahh... crashing is NEVER this beautiful and delicious!!! Magnificento!!! Although the jaw dropping graphics of the year would have to go to the long awaited (AND long delayed) all time favorite 'Gran Turismo' franchise from Polyphony Digital. A "sneak preview" of what we like to call awesomeness can be seen in 'Gran Turismo 5 : Prologue'... where the graphics have improved by leaps and bounds since their PS1 days. With real car damages (well... looks like you can't bang the car unnecessarily this time around... ><"), real and life like in-game graphics... I really do hope Polyphony Digital announce the exact date of the release. ><"

MotorStorm is definitely a kick ass game... I tried it and... man... I need more practice with the boosting system... =.="

Expensive games... ><"
One of the things all gamers couldn't agree more with. With all the time spent developing the game, it is no wonder how much expertise is needed to create just 1 game. I have a friend who works in this industry as a game designer... the hours he spends in the office is considerably more than what he spends with his family (sometimes he doesn't even even go home because of having to meet deadlines). However, we are not just talking about 1 game designer... we are talking about maybe 50 or 100 (or even more) game designers working on just one project.

Besides that, the most important part is... the promotions aspect of the game. With certain game publishers going all out to promote 1 game... it is not surprising that in the end, all this costs would befall the hands of end-users... that is us... the gamers.

Peace Out ~~
