cuRRy mEE... meLaKa styLe... ^^

During the last Chinese New Year... my bf managed to spare some time to go back with me to my hometown, Melaka. Of course his first agenda wasn't the ang pow he is going to get from my relatives... but to eat food. Those food that he missed out during his last trip with me back to my hometown. A word of advise... if you're going to travel to Melaka just to eat food... do think of the day first... public holiday or not... there is a HUGE difference... on the queue.

Our first stop for the day Nyonya Laksa... but in the eyes of Penang people... its just curry mee. But there is a difference to it. Penang's curry mee differs in terms of side servings or liao they put (I mean I notice that some hawkers have their own preferences on the side servings that put into the curry mee... some put chicken... long bean sprouts... and the infamous 'Pig Blood'... blek) while Melaka's Nyonya Laksa is mainly focus on the side servings... everywhere you go... its the same.

This is a must try food if you ever go Melaka... It is located in Jonker Street...

Most of the time... the common liao (use this words better... more Malaysian-ish... ^^) you can find in a bowl of Nyonya Laksa is egg, tau pok, taugeh and loads of shredded cucumber. Then you can choose either noodles, kuay teow or bee hoon to add into the Nyonya Laksa. Delicious... ^^

Sounds spicy eh? Normally, you can find a Cendol stall park right next to a Nyonya Laksa stall... and traditionally, after finish eating the Nyonya Laksa... I would order a bowl of Cendol (to soothe down all those burning and sweating from eating the hot & spicy Nyonya Laksa)... and most of the time... IT WORKS! Its not like the all those sweating will ceased down immediately... but it just helps you feel not that pedas.

There are two notable stalls selling Nyonya Laksa... and both of them are side by side in Jonker Street, Melaka. In case you didn't know where to look for... just look for the queue... then you'll know you are in the right place for a spicy and delicious Nyonya Laksa. Oh... do bring a lot of tissue or a handkerchief... who knows... you might sweat it out during the meal... ^^

Peace Out ~~
